Centre of Knowledge and Innovation: A place where science and community come to life

Colleagues in Ústí nad Labem are preparing something big. The vision for the new centre in Ústí nad Labem promises to connect technology, science and creativity under one roof, in one of the buildings of the original owners, the Schicht family. The project, which will offer education for all generations, is still in the negotiating phase, but for us, it is a clear choice. We want to be at the birth of something like this.
The interior of an abandoned industrial hall. A raw brownfield that we plan to transform into a vibrant centre for education and community.

The Centre for Exploration, Innovation and Gathering is a new project currently in the phase of intensive negotiations with the city and the region. We already know that NFMD will be financially involved in it, as it practically captures the direction and values of the fund.

The project aims to offer comprehensive services to the Ústí community through the creation of a unique place. A space where technology, science, creativity, and sustainability naturally connect. In this case, the key partner of the project is the Jan Evangelista Purkyně University (UJEP). The authors of the idea plan to utilise one of the buildings of the original owners, the Schicht family, which gives a chance to revive forgotten places.

The centre is to be a dynamic space where education becomes an experience, innovation is accessible to all, and communities actively participate in shaping the future. It will offer educational and experiential programmes tailored to different age and social groups – from kindergartens with teachers and parents to seniors.

Motto: "Now I know why and how"

The centre will become a dynamic space where education transforms into experience. The authors aim for innovation to be more than just an empty term; they want it to be accessible to everyone and for local communities to actively participate in shaping the future. Therefore, they intend to reach a wide spectrum of visitors and offer them educational and experiential programmes tailored to their needs.

Education at the centre will not be about passively receiving information, but about actively exploring, experimenting, and connecting with real life. All of this is in the spirit of the motto: "Now I know why and how." Visitors will therefore not just be spectators, but direct participants in the process of knowledge, with links to professional follow-up services in the region.

Space for all generations

The centre's doors will be open to all age and social groups – from children in nursery schools who arrive with teachers or parents, to seniors. The centre will serve as a vibrant place for citizens to meet, hosting discussions, workshops, and lectures focused on current social issues.

Through its concept, the project has the potential to attract tourists. Those who do not seek only superficial entertainment on their travels but desire a deeper understanding of the local cultural and natural heritage in the context of modern times.
